Hey, I'm not dead! Hooray! (Updated)

Hello.  I've been taking a hiatus called "lazy" but now I'm back.  Also, I have homework and college crap to do, which means that I will procrastinate more and more by drawing pictures of bears and talking about glitter in depth.  YAY!!!!

I'm thinking about blogging a book for SparkLife.  If you think that this is a terrible idea, please feel free to inform me with vitriol, but take note that I will only accept criticism if it comes in the form of a gift basket full of delicious treats and puppies.  I will not eat the puppies.  You may have the puppies back after I'm done playing with them. At least one puppy must be named Toad-Dog.

I've opened up a new poll asking you guys which book you think I should blog.  In light of Blogging Twilight's sad, sad end, I originally thought of blogging The Host.  Don't take Dan Bergstein into account when voting, cause he is going to do something very spectacular, but it won't be The Host.  It's going to be even better.  And that's all I'll say about that.  I will probably get fired in approximately twenty minutes.  Today is a day of magic!

Anyway, vote on the poll and if you choose the last option, be sure to leave me a comment or shoot me an email telling me that I'm an idiot and really should have thought of [insert incredible/horrible/whatever book here] and then I will add that into the running.

Tomorrow, hopefully, I will return to regular posting.  Keep on keepin' on, Sparkleheads.  And other people who read my blog.  (Hi, mom.)

Update: There are a few things that I need to clarify.  First, I KNOW that The Host is by Stephenie Meyer and that every one of you loathes her with a fiery passion.  That is the point.  See I can't blog something too freaking awesome because this is how it would go:

So I read this book and it was incredible.  In this chapter, awesomeness happens.  The characters are wonderful and make super decisions.  Everything makes perfect and complete sense.  I do not see anything wrong with this book.  Remember that one really suspenseful part of this chapter?  Me too.  It was great, as I'm sure we can all agree.  I love this book.

That was probably not very interesting.  I've read The Hunger Games series and loved it, but I probably wouldn't blog it just because I don't really have anything to say about it.  It was great.  Sure, I have some minor issues with it, but not enough to write something interesting.  That's not to say that a book has to suck to be an interesting blog, but when something is nit-picked, it's funnier.  JUST SAYIN'.

(Cue the "MEGAN YOU ARE A MO-RON" comments.)

  4. I was gonna say Maximum Ride as well, but for a very, very different reason than dear Miss Ducky's... So, yeah. James Patterson. He makes me laugh. And not 'cause he's funny. ;)

  5. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE blog "The Hunger Games" by Suzanne Collins. It's so fantastic it could almost beat a glitter-unicorn. Yes, glitter is a color.

  6. I'm just gonna say that all those options really did suck. Cept the classic literature, but my brain's about to bust because of literature overload.

So I'm going to vote for Maximum Ride too. I love those books.

Or "The Lizard Cage," by Karen Connelly. It's my favorite book. But no one else in the world seems to have read it besides me.

Or a Sarah Dessen book, like "The Truth About Forever." OOOOOR "Zombies vs. Unicorns." Best. Book. Ever.

  7. I don't think you should blog a book, I can't imagine it as your style. Maybe you should try blogging something small, first, like a short story to see how people like it. Because if it turns out not-so-well, you don't have to drag through the whole book. I really looove your blog but I also really can't imagine you blogging a book. But hey, you might surprise me!

  8. I think you should blog about, the life of Scott Raines.

  9. I agree with you on the funny thing.
People always Danny Berg to blog Hunger Games, but I fail to see how that would be interesting to read at all.
Something that is flawed is funnier.
Maybe try something a little different.
I would love to see someone blog a manga liek Bleach or something.

  10. How about, oh, I dunno,
    the Ulgies series?

  11. I don't think you should pick anything you enjoy. You have to find a book that is considered "good" but is really quite deeply flawed.

Now, Harry Potter is something I adore with all of my heart -- but when I read a fanfiction called 'Harry Potter and the Methods of Rationality" I really keyed into the factors that were supremely idiotic and/or in the series. If you like/know enough Harry Potter, then I think that you found find HPMoR an interesting read. Plus, it's a very intelligent fanfiction, so you don't have to worry about some creepy Draco-Hermione get together.

Anyways... if you blog a book, then that's one way you can do it. And pick something that YOU have a lot to say about. Letting other people vote is great, but once you test the general waters, only pick something that you can fully discuss.

  12. Maximum Ride! The series starts out good and then goes way down hill...Preaching about global warming...really?

  13. I really think you should do some sort of classic literature. Ya know, something which MOST of us have all read, such as "Romeo and Juliet". I mean, who hasn't read or at least heard a rendition of "Romel and Juliet"? I remember it being a mandatory read when I was a freshman. I have never read "Maximum Ride". I have never read "The Hunger Games". I have never read anything written by Stephanie Meyer. And that goes the same for a lot of people. So why spend a huge amount of time blogging about a book, when only SOME of us are gonna enjoy said blog? If you blog about something like "Romeo and Juliet", which EVERYONE has read, well then EVERYONE will get to enjoy it!

  14. Unless we hated Romeo and Juliet. So if it's a love-fest blog of "oh tragedy how bleak thou art" or something, then it'll be just as boring as doing a blog on maxiumum ride.

  15. Dirty Little Lies, the second one is more awesomeer but people would just get confused if you hopped on that train. So just do the first and than blog the second. Btw these are Touch Novels by Laurie Faria Stolarz

  16. I wasn't going to say anything here, but then that other person was all like 'fanfiction' and I GOT THE BESTEST IDEA EVER.
Tara Gillespie's "My Immortal". It's SO EASY to make fun of. It's so bad IT'S ALREADY FUNNY AS IT IS.

    CAPS LOCK.

  17. i think you could make the host sound super fantastically hilarious! :D

  18. The Host would be good, since it's so long and drawn out and the "heroine" is helpless and perfect (gag me). And even people who haven't read it could enjoy it. People who haven't read any of the Twilight Saga still enjoy Dan's blogs.

  19. Hey now, i enjoyed The Host! and i enjoyed Twilight (but yeah, the whole vampire bandwagon thing is getting out of hand...) You shud totes blog A Clockwork Orange by anthony burgess. its one of the best things to come out of the 60s :D and the creepiest. its like a dystopia kinda thing based in the "future" (our present)where kids like "ultra-violence" and speak nadsat (which means teenager). o little sister, thine choodessny rasoodock of slady, sarky chepooka is a gloriosity of rodosty. makes me guff1 <3 (dude, ur wondrous mind of sweet, sarcastic nonsense is a glorious curiosity of joy. Makes me laugh <3)

  21. OH MY! BLOG HARRY POTTER!!! I understand if you don't want to blog them all, but a blog of HP5 would be EPIC!

  22. Wait! Better idea! Blog The Clique Books! Most mind-numbing, painfully dumb books in the universe!

Or that new series by Alyson Noël. It's basically Twilight fan fiction, where the theme is just Bella and Eddy having different names, and Bella having better powers. I only read the first.

  23. You should blog The Clique. The books are so bad, its addicting. There is a lot of mocking potential there.

    ReplyDelete
  24. YOU SHOULD TOTALLY BLOG THE CLIQUE. There is soooooo much in those books to make fun of. Although I do want to warn you that you may find yourself hitting your head against a wall multiple whilst reading the books. They could possibly be as bad as Twilight. And hey, it would make my life. They are also really short, but there are like 20 books in the series. Also, when shall I receive my unicorn? I want to name her LOLZERS. Kind of like Lindsay, but not at all. Just throwing that out there. Oh and if you blog The Clique you will learn a whole new kind of annoying teen girl lingo. Its great.

  25. Um what the hell is Spark Life?

Commenting on my blog prevents all types of cardiovascular diseases. Also, all other diseases. And it summons unicorns. So, really, why WOULDN'T you comment?
